Firm Financing
Firm financing involves managing all of the dealer's trading positions either by borrowing securities when the bank is short or financing securities when the bank is long. In this capacity, the repo desk supports other trading areas of the bank such as the bond trading group and the derivatives team whose specific activities take the bank long or short, and thus drive the need for repo.
